Our Story

Coa Del Mar is a uniquely inspired upscale dining experience located in Eagle, Idaho

Consistent with sister restaurants Barbacoa and Coa De Jima, Del Mar offers high-end cuisine with a Latin flair. The difference? Coa Del Mar showcases fresh seafood flown in daily. We believe that everyone, landlocked or not, deserves the luxury of being served the catch of the day, from across the West Coast, including Hawaii. We invite you to drift away from the mundane and indulge in the curated cuisine of our water’s-edge restaurant.

Chef Enrique Martinez incorporates locally produced ingredients from Idaho farms, rivers and ranches. Barbacoa’s famous “hot rock steak” is also a house favorite among Del Mar’s most discerning and loyal guests. Those who prefer to brine and dine can enjoy on of our signature ice-tini’s and a wide array of ceviche; we offer 10 wildly different and inventive takes on this raw-fish mix.

Nikolai Castoro, who was raised in the restaurant business and managed Barbacoa for nearly 10 years, created Coa Del Mar to stimulate the senses of those who seek high-end curated cuisine in a celebratory setting.

After the sudden loss of his father (and Barbacoa co-creator Robert Castoro), Nikolai was compelled to continue his parents’ epicurean vision with a restaurant uniquely his own. Three years later, he enlisted his mother, artist/restaurateur Martine Castoro, uncle, Richard Fernand, and Chef Enrique Martinez to open Coa De Jima in downtown Boise. Martinez has been making culinary magic with the Castoros since 1997, when Robert and Martine opened their first venture, the Orange County, Calif., Italian restaurant Ti Amo. Martine’s and Richard’s father, Andre Fernand, helped finance that first restaurant, and now the family tradition continues, with Nikolai and Richard partnering on Coa Del Mar.

This 10,000-square-foot restaurant—1,500 of which consists of a wrap-around patio that can accommodate more than 350 guests year-round—is perched on the edge of Eagle Lake, off Riverside Drive. Dining here feels like you’re almost eating from on top of the water. Our indoor/outdoor banquet room can host events for up to 75 people. Like its menu, Coa Del Mar is heavily influenced by both land and by sea.

Del Mar’s attention to artistic details extends far beyond its modern luxe décor and beautifully presented meals. Our restaurant is a veritable show case for local artists. We invite you to enter through our iron adorned antique doors created by metal smith Rick Priest. Pause to revel in awe of Martine Castoro’s massive hand painted mosaic mural. Bask in the glow of Filip Vogelpohl one-of-a kind, oversized hand-blown glass chandelier. Our stage is set. What will you celebrate today?
